What players are actually saying
1. Summary
Most of the praise is about what happens inside a match. Reviewers say it runs smoothly on weak laptops and old PCs, and that the movement and gunfights feel fast and responsive. 22% of longer reviews measure it against Warzone or Call of Duty, usually as the version for people who cannot run, store or afford those games. Playing with friends, including friends on phones through crossplay, comes up often as a reason to stay.
Most of the complaints are about everything around the match. New players run into lobbies filled with bots until the middle ranks, and players who climb past that point report cheaters at Legend and Mythic. The menus feel like a mobile game on a monitor, with stacks of reward popups and gacha banners, and the monetization leans on low-odds spins and timed skins. Reviewers also complain about AFK teammates, uneven netcode, and weapon and Striker balance.
2. What keeps coming up
What players praise
Runs smoothly on almost any PCHigh
12% of longer reviews praise how well the game runs on modest hardware. The same details keep appearing: "potato PC", integrated graphics, office laptops, ten-year-old machines holding 60 frames per second or more. Reviewers with old GTX cards or Intel integrated graphics report stable frame rates, and several compare it with other battle royales their machines cannot handle at all: "my laptop runs PUBG at 10-15 fps and in this game it runs at a constant 60 fps". A handful also say it works on Linux and the Steam Deck. The dissent is small: about 1% of longer reviews complain about frame drops, stutter or poor optimization, usually after a specific update or on the Steam client compared with the standalone launcher.
Fast movement and responsive gunplayHigh
16% of longer reviews talk about the movement, the gunplay or the pace of matches, and much of that is praise. Sliding, sprinting and quick respawns keep players in the action, and the shooting is described as snappy and satisfying, with the Kar98k and snipers singled out by some. Even a former fan who says sweaty lobbies and cheaters spoiled the game wrote: "The core gunplay is outstanding. Responsive and satisfying." Higher up the ladder, some reviewers say fights turn into slide-and-jump duels, and a minority find the recoil on scopes or the controller feel off.
Playing with friends, including friends on phonesMedium
9% of longer reviews mention friends, family or crossplay, usually as a reason the game works for them. Reviewers describe squadding up with cousins, siblings or coworkers who only have phones, or switching between phone and PC on the same account: "nice game to meet up with friends that doesnt have a pc". Several also say solo queue is much worse than playing in a group.
Strikers, modes and weapon customizationMedium
7% of longer reviews discuss the Strikers and their abilities, the mode list and the gunsmith. Players like that abilities add some variety without taking over the shooting, and they mention Squad Fight, Hot Zone, Arms Race and the ranked ladders for both battle royale and Squad Fight as reasons the game does not get stale. Some reviewers say the abilities look borrowed from Apex Legends or Valorant, or find half the roster forgettable or useless next to the meta picks.
A small install next to WarzoneLow
3.5% of longer reviews bring up storage or download size, nearly always as a plus against Call of Duty's install. A few warn that the first launch adds another large in-game download on top of the Steam install.
Generous free rewardsLow
1.5% of longer reviews say the events, login rewards and battle pass hand out enough free skins and gold that you can enjoy the game without paying. Far more reviews complain about the monetization (see below).
Where players are split
A Warzone you can run, or a cheap copyHigh
27% of longer reviews compare Blood Strike with other shooters, and 22% name Warzone, Call of Duty or COD Mobile specifically. Across all reviews, 87 say outright that it is better than Call of Duty, Warzone, Apex or PUBG, and 75 frame it as the alternative for people whose PC or drive cannot handle Warzone: "It's the closest thing I've found to Warzone, but without needing a massive install." On the other side, reviewers point at maps, animations and abilities they see as lifted from Warzone, Apex, Valorant and Free Fire, and tell readers to play the original instead; one short review reads "Warzone From Wish.com". Words like copy, clone and knockoff appear in 6% of longer reviews, and some of those use them fondly, as in "knockoff warzone but its surprisingly fun".
Graphics and visual qualityHigh
12.5% of longer reviews comment on the graphics, and they split almost evenly: across all reviews, 65 use clearly positive wording and 66 clearly negative. Fans accept simple visuals as the price of the frame rate: "graphically poor? Yeah. Bad? Hell no." Critics find blurry textures and stiff character faces that look like a phone game blown up on a monitor: "I had the graphics on Ultra and they were worst then old Combat Arms back in the day". Several on both sides ask for a higher-quality PC texture option.
Crossplay with mobile playersMedium
6% of longer reviews talk about aim assist, mobile opponents or crossplay. Some value it because it lets them play with friends on phones. Others call it unfair to PC players, saying mobile players get strong aim assist and PC players cannot leave the shared pool: "PC players cannot opt out of crossplay." Others report the reverse, that PC players stomp mobile teammates and opponents. Controller players on PC add that they get no aim assist at all.
Respawns and buy-backs in battle royaleLow
A small group of reviews debate the respawn system. Supporters like never sitting out a match: "The almost constant respawns are a GREAT addition when compared with PUBG etc." Critics say a squad you have wiped keeps buying itself back until it wins by attrition: "you can kill the same squad 20 times ans they still come back".
What frustrates players
Bot lobbies until the middle ranksHigh
17% of longer reviews complain about bots, and about a third of those tie them to the rank ladder, saying real opponents only appear around Gold, Platinum, Diamond or Master. First-session reviews describe winning every match against enemies that run into walls or turn their backs: "I didnt die ever during this playtime and its not fun." Others put the threshold higher: "You need MASTER rank to start getting players mixed in with your bots (50/50)." A minority defend the bots as a gentle on-ramp for learning the guns, and some say Hot Zone or Squad Fight have fewer of them. The complaint has grown over time: bots came up in 12% of longer reviews written in the launch quarter (October to December 2024) and in 24% of those written in the first and third quarters of 2026, with a dip in between.
Cheaters once you climbHigh
15% of longer reviews mention cheaters or anti-cheat, and about a third of those place the problem in the higher ranks. Reviewers describe aimbots, wallhacks, ESP and no-recoil macros visible in the kill cam: "came back and climbed into Legend just to find a non-trivial amount of players using obvious no-recoil scripts, macro actions, aim bot, and ESP." Some add that reports take effect only after the damage to their rank points is done, or that the report window after death is too short. A smaller group say they have rarely met a cheater, that reports do lead to bans, and that the game sends compensation when a reported cheater is caught. Cheating came up in between 12% and 19% of longer reviews in every quarter since launch, with no clear rise or fall.
A mobile game's menus and settings on a PCHigh
16% of longer reviews describe the game as a mobile port or complain about its menus. The lobby is covered in red dots, reward claims, event tabs and shop banners, and several reviewers say leaving the game is an ordeal: "to leave a match you need to click through a billion popups". Others list missing PC basics: resolution and frame settings offered only as presets, a 240 fps cap, no invert-Y option, hard-coded keybinds, touch-control leftovers in the settings and fonts sized for a phone. These complaints come mostly from newcomers.
Gacha spins and aggressive monetizationHigh
12% of longer reviews take issue with the monetization. The specific targets repeat: the best skins sit behind low-odds spins with no guaranteed reward ("Theres STILL no pity system, so even after spending $50-$100, you still arent garunteed to get the reward."), draws pad out with 3-day and 7-day trial skins, and the shop and reward popups follow you to the exit: "Done with your gaming session, good luck in exiting the game." Players are divided on whether any of it is pay to win. Those who say it is point at paid skins with better scopes or a cleaner red dot in place of the iron sight, or at top-tier guns with less recoil; others say flatly that it is not pay to win, and one reviewer who raised the iron-sight point added "It's actually very minor". Several players who did spend say the cheaper battle pass is fair value next to the spins.
Matchmaking, teammates and sweatsHigh
11% of longer reviews complain about matchmaking or teammates. Solo players describe AFK teammates, quitters and squads that scatter: "Too many teammates disconnect, refuse to stick with the squad, or leave after getting knocked." Others report lopsided rank pairings, long queues at the top of the ladder or late at night, no duo option for ranked, region locks that keep them from friends abroad, and a jump from easy lobbies straight into very skilled "sweats" around Legend and Mythic. Several call the penalty for AFK players too light and ask for a kick option.
Netcode, hit registration and pingMedium
5% of longer reviews blame the servers. The complaints are about shots that do not register, desync and dying behind cover: "you get killed through a wall, but on the replay, you see that the other player had a line of sight on you the whole time". Several connect this to cross-region matches against high-ping players, and a few to specific season updates that made lag worse.
Weapon, Striker and event-item balanceMedium
7% of longer reviews argue about balance. The names repeat: the flying Striker Alondra ("That striker's Ability is So overpowered Even after they nerfed it"), shotguns, the magnum, dual pistols and Uzis, the M82 sniper, melee range, and collab event items such as the One Punch Man gloves and Attack on Titan transformations: "someone will turn into a titan using an event item and hit kill you, so fun". A few reviewers counter that every gun is usable and the meta can be countered.
Crashes, freezes and bugsMedium
4.6% of longer reviews report crashes, freezes or bugs. These include games that hang on the loading screen, PCs that freeze or restart mid-match, voice chat that cannot be muted or will not turn on, looting menus that grab a zipline instead of an item, and abilities that fail to fire. Several tie the problems to particular updates.
Privacy and file-access worriesLow
2.6% of longer reviews warn that the game reads or uploads personal files. Some describe what they saw: an antivirus alert after accepting the terms, or OneDrive files uploading once a match started. 8 reviews repeat the same wording, "it was downloading files from my personal folder". Other reviewers dispute the claim, one explaining that the game keeps local save files which OneDrive backs up, another arguing "If it was malware, Valve would've removed the game already". The reviews do not settle it either way, and a few reviewers say they uninstalled after reading the warnings.
Bans and appealsLow
2% of longer reviews describe bans they consider wrong, some after spending money, with long restrictions and appeals answered by a template: "I tried appealing the ban but i got a copy pasted decline in response". Several say third-party tools such as overlay, highlight or crosshair apps triggered the flag.
Controller supportLow
2.3% of longer reviews say controller support is broken or thin. The repeated report is that only the triggers work: "You can ADS and shoot but cannot move your character or do anything else". Those who get it working say PC controller players get no aim assist.
Misleading trailer and screenshotsLow
Around 2% of longer reviews say the store trailer and screenshots look far better than the game, and some newcomers uninstalled over the gap.
Linking existing mobile or launcher accountsLow
1.4% of longer reviews could not bring an existing mobile or standalone-client account to Steam, or lost progress because the first Steam launch created a new account: "Imagine not warning someone about having to link their account before launching the game for the first time."
Region-locked collabs and serversLow
About 1% of longer reviews complain that heavily promoted collabs (Evangelion, Bleach and others) were unavailable in their country, or that they cannot change server region.
AI-generated artLow
About 1% of longer reviews object to what they see as AI-generated art in loading screens, profile pictures, lobby assets or music.
3. The player conversation
Many reviews are one-line ratings, jokes or meme posts. Among the longer ones, praise and complaints regularly share a review: a fair number of reviewers who call the game fast, free and able to run on anything go on to complain about bots, cheaters or the shop in the same text.
Who raises what follows how far players get. Bot complaints and complaints about the mobile-style menus come mainly from newcomers in their first hours. Cheating, matchmaking and monetization come mainly from people who have climbed the ranked ladder, some of whom have spent money. Performance praise comes from both groups.
Each full quarter from launch through September 2026 landed between 73% and 81% positive. There were short bursts, such as 214 reviews in the week of 24 November 2025 at 92% positive, and short dips, such as March and April 2025 when weekly shares fell to the mid 60s. What reviewers talk about has shifted more than the rating: bots came up in a larger share of longer reviews in 2026 than in the launch quarter, while the share raising cheating stayed level.
4. What the developers could do
- Cut the bot filler in early ranked and battle royale. 17% of longer reviews complain about bots, a larger share in 2026 than at launch, and players say they only meet real opponents at Platinum, Diamond or Master.
- Harden anti-cheat in the top ranks and act faster on reports. 15% of longer reviews raise cheating, often placing it at Legend and Mythic, and some say bans land after their rank points are already lost or that the window to report after death is too short.
- Rebuild the PC menus and settings around a mouse and monitor. 16% of longer reviews call out the mobile-port feel, with a claim-all button, fewer exit popups, free resolution and frame settings, invert-Y and rebindable keys named as the fixes.
- Add pity and direct purchases to the gacha, and drop timed-skin filler. 12% of longer reviews criticize the monetization, and those who call it pay to win point at paid skins with better sights or less recoil.
- Fix solo matchmaking with AFK kicks, a ranked duo queue and region switching. 11% of longer reviews describe AFK or scattered teammates, lopsided pairings and region locks that block playing with friends.
- Give PC players a crossplay opt-out or rebalance mobile aim assist. 6% of longer reviews discuss crossplay, and PC players say mobile aim assist puts them on a different ruleset they cannot leave.
- Tighten netcode and keep players on nearby servers. 5% of longer reviews report unregistered hits and deaths behind cover, often against high-ping cross-region opponents.
- Make bans explainable and allow common overlay tools. Reviewers banned after using highlight, overlay or crosshair apps describe template appeal replies and long restrictions, and some had spent money first.
