What players are actually saying

Three wild new worlds full of fun gear and game references, held back by grindy chores like the mining level and by bugs and crashes.

1. Summary

Multiverse of Nonsense is a story expansion that drops Pilgor into a new map of three themed worlds: a cartoon town, a city where goats keep humans as pets, and a Mount Olympus stuffed with gods and vines to burn. Players who recommend it write about those worlds, the new gear (the Thor hammer and other traversal toys come up by name), a Half-Life parody intro, a steady stream of game references, and a final boss fight against kidney stones inside a capybara. A few reviewers put the full run at five or six hours and call that good value, while a couple of others call it too short. A few call it their favourite Goat Simulator 3 DLC.

Grind is the complaint raised most often in the longer reviews: a mining section where you headbutt gems one at a time up to level 60, a grass hat that has to grow for a long uninterrupted stretch, and minigames like minesweeper and mastermind standing between players and full completion. Bugs come up nearly as often, with crashes, falling through the ground and NPCs stuck inside buildings, and several of those reviewers say the base game never crashed for them. A few were locked out because the DLC checks ownership online at every launch. Reviewers also disagree about the ending, about whether the DLC is long enough for its price, and about whether chaos in an already absurd world is as funny as chaos in a normal town. Some of the players who recommend it still name the same tasks that wore them down.

2. What keeps coming up

What players praise
Three themed worlds to exploreHigh

The new map draws more praise than anything else in the DLC: 15 of the 73 longer reviews single out the worlds, areas or exploration, most of them favourably. A player who had beaten the base game and every DLC ranks this one first: "The map and quest ideas are AMAZING!" Another writes, "The new map has a great variety of unique locations, and plenty of new events and instincts." The detailed reviews go world by world. The cartoon town is "kinda hectic with the wast ammount of explosives & cartoony traps", the goat city is packed with hidden alleys, and the Olympus area is very vertical. One reviewer notes the space is smaller than the base game's but "densely packed due to the smaller worldspace." Criticism of the map itself is slight: one player felt the city was squeezed ("it feels like the devs were running out of space"), and the complaint that an already absurd world blunts the chaos is covered under the split themes below.

New gear and abilitiesMedium

"The Gear Is Really Fun To Use," says one player, and 10 of the 73 longer reviews praise the unlockable gear in some form. Another bought the DLC for the items: "The Thor hammer makes traversal so much easier." Others mention the cosmetics, the playable baby goat, a blue lizard dog with a laser cannon, and collectibles that unlock "RLY strong powers". Getting there is the catch. The strongest rewards sit behind collecting everything, and one fan of the DLC thought the 60-trinket requirement for the galaxy horns "should have been something a little less difficult to do."

References, the Half-Life intro and the capybaraMedium

A lot of the one-line reviews are nothing but a reference: "rock and stone" (Deep Rock Galactic), Half-Life jokes and "capybara". In the longer reviews, 9 of 73 praise the references. "Tons of video game references, the intro especially was a real treat," writes one, and another describes going "to Toon Town" and removing a kidney stone. Not everyone was won over. A reviewer who doesn't recommend the DLC felt the references were "a lot more awkward than in the main game", and a recommender warns that despite the title and trailer it is "quite sparse on the Marvel references".

Co-op with friends and familyLow

A handful of players enjoyed it together: "Had a blast playing with my friends", and another says "my nieces and nephews are obsessed with this game". Two reviewers wish friends who don't own the DLC could join them: "This would be the best DLC if you could play it with friend who don't have the DLC".

Where players are split
Is it as good as the base game?Medium

In 9 of the 73 longer reviews, players say the DLC is weaker than the base game or doesn't feel like it, and most of those reviews are negative. One explains, "Causing chaos in a already chaotic world just doesn't hit as hard." Others call it "very lackluster", "more like you're just working on a checklist", or simply "just more goat simulator 3". A smaller group (4 of the 73) says the opposite: "Even better than the base game", or "just like Goat Sim but even more fun". A few positive reviews add that anyone who liked the base game will like the DLC.

Length and priceMedium

In 10 of the 73 longer reviews, players say there is plenty here or that it is worth the money: "It took my approximately 6 hours to complete everything in full", "lots of content", "definitely worth it in my opinion." Another 6 find it short or overpriced: "Very cool, but too mid for its price tag", and one reviewer who doesn't recommend it was "not sure I would say it's worth 15 USD". Two short reviews call it "kinda short" or "Just to short". A few reviewers on both sides give the same advice: buy it on sale.

Harder puzzles and platformingMedium

Several reviewers note that this DLC asks for more puzzle-solving and platforming than the base game. Fans like it: "It is more platforming focused than the original game", it is "Great if you like collect-a-thon stuff", and the Myst-style puzzle world won praise even from someone who wanted a Sims parody there instead. Others hit a wall. One negative review says "you have to look up tons of youtube videos to actually be able to know what to do", another player got stuck on a collection mission, and a recommender admits some quests "almost made me rage quit, but YouTube tutorials come in handy." One player begged for the guitar mission to be skippable after failing it for 25 minutes.

The endingMedium

More reviewers dislike the ending than like it, and several of those still recommend the DLC overall: "the ending sucked so bad it made me cry", "ending feels really lackluster and not worth the time it takes to get there", and one squeamish player was grossed out by the inside-the-body finale. Others defend it: "The ending was VERY unexpected, but I don't think it's bad, like others think," and one enjoyed the boss fight against the kidney stones "inside of the capybara". One detailed review liked the last boss but felt it "got old kinda fast".

What frustrates players
Grindy tasks: the mine, the grass hat and the minigamesHigh

Tedious or padded tasks come up in 17 of the 73 longer reviews, 10 of them negative reviews. The Miningverse comes up most, in 8 of them: "This means dragging around a mini molly and slowly work your way to 'level 60' my slamming gems till they crack." Another calls it "a glorified clicking simulator". The grass hat instinct draws the next-most anger, with one player writing "There's no real justification that you have to sit for 2 hours to complete one instinct", and one review that still recommends the DLC simply repeats "i hate the grass" over and over. One reviewer's later edit says the related achievement was cut to 20 minutes in April 2025. Completionists also object to forced minigames: "the damn minesweeper minigame took years off my life", and one lists "mastermind & minesweeped" and a music puzzle among the things they hated. Both of those players recommend the DLC anyway, and another recommender calls the events "rage inducing" but rewarding once finished.

Crashes and glitchesMedium

"This DLC however is always crashing," writes one player. Bugs appear in 13 of the 73 longer reviews, nearly all of them negative, and several players stress the base game ran fine for them. Another found it "crashing within seconds of loading up any save" and refunded. Crashes hurt most during the long tasks: one player lost a two-hour mining run, another kept crashing at the 25-metre hair challenge, and another was thrown to the main menu at the ending cutscene and "couldn't load up my save". Movement and NPC bugs come up too: "Pilgor really likes to fall through the ground or get wedged on things in this DLC", and NPCs whose models sink into buildings so they can't be talked to. Smaller reports include stutters, the DLC not showing up in game, and items that could not be unlocked (a bugged final item, a tiara and a crown).

Online check locks players outLow

A few reviewers report that the DLC verifies ownership online at every launch, so it won't load offline and can drop players to the title screen when the connection fails. The most detailed of them explains, "They make a call on each launch to api.epicgames.dev", and the message players see is "You do not own the required dlc to play in this level." Another calls it "Online requirement of checking in with Epic for some insane reason", and a positive reviewer agrees "this DLC has DRM." One detailed review adds that losing the server connection resets the grass hat's length to zero. These complaints run from late 2024 into 2026.

Base gear stripped and no replayLow

The DLC starts you as a basic goat without your base-game items, and some players dislike that. One calls it "a 'new goat who this' game"; another accepted it as the way the DLC was meant to be played but missed the cosmetics. Others want to replay story events: "none of it is replayable without making a new save entirly", and a short review asks to "redo kidney fight in the same save". One reviewer also found the "Your previous gear is hidden in the multiverse" message confusing, because the gear is simply locked until the main quest ends.

3. The player conversation

Most of the conversation is short and friendly: a word or a meme ("capybara", "rock and stone", goat noises, Half-Life jokes) that says more about the mood than about any feature. The longer reviews fall into two groups. Fans loved the worlds, gear and references and shrug off a rough task or a weak ending; disappointed base-game fans found the DLC grindier, buggier and less funny than what they already owned. Some recommenders name the same irritations as the critics (the mine, the grass, minesweeper, the ending), so the two groups often describe the same DLC and weigh those parts differently.

Launch week carried the most reviews (48, 88% of them positive), and its complaints were about the mining grind, puzzles that sent people to YouTube, and stutter and falling through the map. From summer 2024 into early 2025 the negative reviews turned to crashes and lost progress, and the online-check complaints appeared from autumn 2024 onward. Later reviews came in a trickle and stayed largely positive, with people still arriving in 2026 to call it their favourite Goat Simulator 3 DLC.

4. What the developers could do

  1. Cut the grind in the Miningverse and timed tasks. The level-60 gem headbutting and the long grass hat wait are the grind players name most, in negative reviews and in some positive ones.
  2. Fix the crashes, especially during long tasks and the ending. Several players say the DLC crashes where the base game never did, and crashes wiped multi-hour runs and one player's ending save.
  3. Let the DLC run offline. Reviewers were locked out or kicked to the title screen when the online ownership check failed, and one lost grass hat progress to a dropped connection.
  4. Fix collision, NPC and unlock bugs. Players report falling through the ground, getting wedged, NPCs sinking into buildings, and items like the tiara, a crown and the final reward that would not unlock.
  5. Add hints or skips for the hardest puzzles and minigames. Players had to look up YouTube videos to progress, and the music mission and minesweeper stopped some of them cold.
  6. Allow replaying story events and the boss on the same save. Reviewers asked to redo the kidney fight and other events without starting a new save, and some missed their base-game gear.
  7. Let friends without the DLC join co-op sessions. Two reviewers ask for this, and one says it would make this the best DLC.
